DIY Magnetic Letter Matching

magdiyIn early childhood, we use lots of Do-It-Yourself games and fun interactive games that we can switch out easily throughout the year. I always love coming up with new magnetic games and can’t wait to add a HUGE magnetic board to my classroom next year…. read more about that HERE. Anyway, for now I am sticking to individual boards (cookie sheets) that you can purchase from the Dollar Tree or Wal-Mart. upperalphagraph

What you will need:

  • 1-2 rectangle cookie sheet, I buy mine at the Dollar Tree or you can have them on your classroom wish-list for parents to donate at the beginning of the year
  • 2 sets of magnetic letters (A through Z), also can be found at the Dollar Tree
  • Lamination Sheets and Laminator
  • Printer
  • Our FREE Alphabet Matching Graph: Uppercase Letters printable from TPT

Step One: Print out all or a few of the graphs. Cut them out and be sure to cut only on the middle line. This will create two separate graphs to laminate. Laminate the graphs and cut. Tape the graphs to rectangular cookie sheets.

Step Two: Place in writing/reading center with a bag of magnetic letters. Have students match the letters for the graph.

* Note: Our graph is for Uppercase letters, so be sure you buy the Uppercase magnetic letters and NOT the lowercase letters.
