EOY Awards

As many teachers are probably noticing the buzzing of excited students ready for summer, most of us are counting down the weeks left in our school year. This year has been a year of many firsts! My first year working at a new school, with new staff, new students, and a new routine. I have absolutely LOVED my class this year. My students have challenged me and taught me many things about teaching that I thought I already knew. More importantly they taught me that being the OCD and an organization freak, truly pays off in the classroom. We had many days where we had constant schedule changes and my kids were up for anything.

As we begin to wrap up the year, diplomas/awards are always on the back of my mind. While teaching early childhood, I have found that each child needs to be recognized in their own way, to help them grow independently and uniquely. Some children will always struggle with mathematics, others will be exceptional readers, some may take longer to comprehend a subject, and a few will blow you away with their love for learning.

Each year I do superlative awards for the students in my classroom. Every child receives the award on our last day of school in a small classroom ceremony! The kids look forward to finding out which superlative they get.
